RC La Reina Alta joins locals to inaugurate the container-house at Barba Rubia School

BARBA RUBIA - Community members from all reaches of Hualañé joined the Rotary Club La Reina Alta to celebrate the arrival of the container-house from California Saturday, July 10. The Rotarians were joined by teachers, students, and administrators of the school, as well as the mayor of county of Hualañé to participate in a lunch to communicate the further reconstruction work needed in the community and the challenges facing the people of Hualañé. In these talks, we discovered that although the main dirt road of Barba Rubia is planned to be paved, the community continues to rely completely on wells and stream water for its water supply, which is subject to inconstancies in quality and potability.

Also in attendance were representatives from Voluntary Horizons, a non-profit agency that brokers community service opportunities for travelers, which was rebuilding the community center in neighboring village of Los Coipos.
